Can't afford a vintage neumann km84? there are several aternatives with huge differences in price. the two that keep coming up are: Rode NT5 vs. Neumann km184. ok obviously we're trying to get as close as possible to the original km84 sound. prices for pairs: Rode $400, Neumann $1600. Everyone always complain about the brightness of the KM184 and the lack of detail on the NT5. I actually would prefer the NT5 I think they are slightly closer to the km84 and they are 1/4 of the cost! If i need "detail" I'll use the mojave MA100. This will have to work until I can afford to buy a pair of km84s.
