went to Summer NAMM here in Nashville and picked up a new Collings I-35 deluxe (the one in the middle). This one is really special and I'll post more pics later. Right now i'm to busy going back and forth from Bach violin partitas and hexatonic scales over altered dominant chords....what can i say, i love it all.
always great to see Steve, Bill, & Alex. thanks guys for hang.
Also great to see Mary Faith and Todd at John Pearse as well as Dana and Bonni over at Bourgeois.
Can't afford a vintage neumann km84? there are several aternatives with huge differences in price. the two that keep coming up are: Rode NT5 vs. Neumann km184. ok obviously we're trying to get as close as possible to the original km84 sound. prices for pairs: Rode $400, Neumann $1600. Everyone always complain about the brightness of the KM184 and the lack of detail on the NT5. I actually would prefer the NT5 I think they are slightly closer to the km84 and they are 1/4 of the cost! If i need "detail" I'll use the mojave MA100. This will have to work until I can afford to buy a pair of km84s.
